In short

What does the Tool Stack Cost Calculator do?

An ecommerce tool stack is every subscription that keeps your business running: your Shopify plan, apps, email, reviews, research tools, design and AI tools. Individually they look small, but together they can quietly cost hundreds a month. Tick what you pay for, adjust the prices, and this calculator shows your monthly and yearly total, your cost per order, your tool cost as a share of revenue and how much of it a bundle could replace.

1. How to use this tool stack cost calculator?

  1. 1Tick every tool and subscription you pay for. If your price is different, type your own in the box next to it.
  2. 2Add your revenue and orders if you want the cost per order and the share of revenue.
  3. 3Read your monthly and yearly total, then check how much of it sits in categories a bundle could cover, and compare with the bundle price.

What each input means

Monthly revenue (optional)
to see tools as a share of revenue
Orders per month (optional)
to see cost per order
Bundle price to compare
per month. Default is the SpyBox monthly price at the time of writing

2. How is the tool stack cost calculator calculated?

  • Monthly cost = sum of the prices of every ticked tool
  • Yearly cost = monthly cost × 12
  • Tool cost per order = monthly cost ÷ orders per month
  • Share of revenue = monthly cost ÷ monthly revenue
  • Covered by a bundle = sum of ticked tools in categories such a bundle includes
  • Difference = covered cost − bundle price
Example

Say you pay for Shopify (39), an AI assistant (20), a design tool (15), a product research tool (50), an ad spy tool (50) and an email platform (30). Your stack costs 204 a month, or 2,448 a year. Against 5,000 of monthly revenue and 150 orders, that is 4.1% of revenue and 1.36 per order. Of that, 135 sits in research, AI and design tools that some bundles include. Against a bundle priced at 29.99 a month, the difference is about 105 a month.

3. Who should use this tool?

  • Store owners who suspect their subscriptions have crept up.
  • Anyone paying for several research, design and AI tools that overlap.
  • Owners planning a budget before they add another app.
FAQ

Tool Stack Cost Calculator: frequently asked questions

How much do ecommerce tools usually cost?

It varies a lot by store. A small store may pay under 100 a month, while stores that add research, creative, email, SMS and analytics tools can pass several hundred. The point of this calculator is to see your own number, not an average.

Are the prices in the calculator accurate?

They are typical monthly list prices used as starting points, and they change often. Always type your own price if it differs.

Should I move to an all-in-one bundle?

Only if you would really use the tools it includes, it covers the tools you rely on, and its terms and availability suit you. Compare the tools you actually use, not the total number of tools on offer.

What tools can I not replace with a bundle?

Tools that run your store and money, such as your Shopify plan, payments, email and SMS delivery and accounting, are usually separate from research, design and AI bundles.
