In short

What does the Cart Abandonment Recovery Calculator do?

Cart abandonment happens when shoppers start checkout and leave without paying. This calculator takes the checkouts you started and the orders you completed, works out your abandonment rate, and shows the revenue you could win back each month and year if abandoned-cart emails and texts recover the share you choose.

2. How is the cart abandonment recovery calculator calculated?

  • Abandonment rate = abandoned ÷ started
  • Recovered orders = abandoned × recovery rate
  • Recovered revenue = recovered orders × average order value
Example

FAQ

Cart Abandonment Recovery Calculator: frequently asked questions

What is a normal cart abandonment rate?

Abandonment rates are often quoted at around 70% across ecommerce, but yours depends on your product, price and traffic. Track your own rate over time.

What recovery rate should I use?

It depends on your offer, audience, timing and channel. Start with a cautious number and compare it with the results of your own flow.

What is the difference between an abandoned cart and an abandoned checkout?

An abandoned cart means items were added but checkout was not started. An abandoned checkout means the shopper started checkout, often leaving an email address, which is what most recovery flows use.

How do I recover abandoned checkouts?

With automated emails and, where the rules allow, texts, sent shortly after the shopper leaves. Clear subject lines, the cart contents and a reason to come back help most.
